Major And Minor Key Covers are songs that change the key in a particular song. It’s simply a switch from one to the other. Even though it’s a simple idea, it changes the feel of the song completely. To start, let’s discuss how the originals start. Songs in minor key sound more sombre, and slow. These are typically seen as sadder but that’s not always the case. Songs like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day or “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye or “Mad World” by Gary Jules are all in the minor key. Then, songs in a major key are a lot more upbeat and energetic. Though they’re seen as happy songs, that’s not always the case. Consider Happy Pills by the Weathers as an example. Major songs are usually the songs with a happy upbeat tone like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.

Minor Covers

Let’s start with the minor covers. These take songs that are typically in a major key and play them in a minor key. A minor key cover brings up beats songs down a few notches. I first found out about this style of covers from a friend who posted one on Facebook. He posted a minor key version of “You are my sunshine” by Alone. It’s an amazing song. Major Covers

….. and now for the other half: Major key covers. Major key covers are covers of songs that are typically in a minor key. These are covers that transform a typical slow song into a more energetic one. These are rather odd in a wonderful kind of way. Just check out Metallica’s song “Enter Sandman” in a major key and I think you’ll understand.
