On this day in 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the First World War was ended. The first remembrance day was on November 11, 1919, at 11 a.m.. Originally called “Armistice Day” to honor the armistice agreement which was the agreement that ended WW1.
