Kazoo; More than a Novelty

A Kazoo is a musical instrument resembling a flute, recorder or other wind instruments but quite shorter. The kazoo is a percussion instrument that’s structured differently than typical wind instruments. It’s designed to create a buzzing or timbral quality to the musician’s voice and a resonating membrane. To use a kazoo ones blows, or speaks through the membrane to produce the buzzing quality. This is a beautiful example of data visualization. This view shows each version of the song with the appearance of the ‘planet’ or cover song correlating to it’s characteristics. In may of 2020 was the first survey that found that over half of Canadians are concerned about returning to live music venues and wouldn't be comfortable until 6 months or more had passed.
